EVALUATE where you are.
DETERMINE where you want to go
About Bronze 🔗
After receiving your CELBAN results, take some time to understand where you did well and where you can improve. The CELBAN is divided into four areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Take a close look at the feedback for each section:
Where did you score well? Celebrate those wins! Recognizing your strengths is key to staying motivated.
Where did you struggle? Identify which areas need the most improvement. Did you find writing difficult? Was listening a challenge? Knowing your weak spots will help you focus your efforts.
Now that you know where to focus, create a plan to improve. Break it down into smaller, manageable steps:
Set realistic goals: Instead of focusing on passing the CELBAN all at once, set smaller goals for each section. For example, aim to improve your writing by practicing 20 minutes every day for the next week.
Focus on one skill at a time: It can be overwhelming to try to improve everything at once. Take it step by step, focusing on one skill (reading, writing, listening, or speaking) until you feel more confident in that area.
Use available resources: Check out the mini-grammar courses and remedial courses we offer on our resources page. These courses are designed to help you improve the specific areas where you need it most.
It’s natural to feel stressed after a setback, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Managing stress will help you stay focused and motivated:
Take breaks: When studying, it’s important to take short breaks to clear your mind and relax. This will help you avoid burnout.
Stay active: Exercise, even if it’s just a short walk, can help reduce stress and improve focus.
Talk to others: Reach out to a friend, family member, or fellow nurse. Talking about your feelings and challenges can help you feel supported and less anxious.
Staying motivated can be tough, but it’s possible! Keep reminding yourself why you want to become a nurse in Canada, and use that goal to fuel your progress.
Celebrate small wins: Whether it’s mastering a new grammar rule or feeling more confident with your speaking, celebrate each step forward.
